Working here

Hours

Full time working hours are 36 hours per week.  For many of our posts, subject to the discretion of the Head of Department based on business needs, flexible working patterns are available including part-time, term-time only, homeworking, annualised hours. 

In addition to this, many staff are able to work flexi-time.  Staff eligible for FWH are required to commence and finish duty between the core times of 07:00 to 10:00 and 16:00 to 19:00 Monday to Friday.  There may be some departmental variation to these hours.  All Band H staff will be required to participate in the Officer In Charge rota, which includes working occasional Saturdays. Contractual working requirements will be advised to all staff members.

Probation

12 month probationary period.

Holidays

  • Bands A-F: 22 days annual leave per calendar year, rising to 25 days after 1 year's service and to 30 days after 8 years' service.
  • Band G: 25 days annual leave per calendar year, rising to 30 days after 8 years' service.
  • Band H: 30 days annual leave per calendar year.

In addition, all staff are entitled to 10½ days public and privilege leave per annum.

Retirement age

The standard retirement age for staff is 65.

Selection

Selection will be by interview.  In addition, for some posts, applicants may be required to complete psychometric tests.  Candidates will be notified of details of this, if applicable, in their invitation to interview letter.
