Once upon a time in the records: the Irish revolution

Thursday 23 July, 14:00 - 15:00

The National Archives is home to a huge amount of information chronicling the history of the so called 'Irish Troubles'.  This talk will look at records created by the Cabinet Office, the Colonial Office and the Irish Office, among others.  Of particular interest to researchers are the records of the Irish Distress Committee and the Irish Grants Committee.

Neil Cobbett has worked as a Reader Adviser in The National Archives' enquiry service for the last 13 years.  He has external interests as a musician, writer and political analyst and commentator.  He formerly worked as a publisher's editor, copywriter, researcher, business manager and consultant and training manager.  He acts as an adviser in the field of modern political history and in particular modern Irish history and society, labour history and the history of modern radical political movements, as well as the Special Operations Executive.

This is a free event. Tickets will be issued on a first-come, first-served basis on the day and cannot be booked in advance.

You can listen to previous talks given at The National Archives on our Podcast page.
