Publications

The National Advisory Services brings together the functions and services of the Historical Manuscripts Commission and the archive inspection unit of the Public Record Office. Where appropriate we have brought together our publications such as the National Archives' Standard for Record Repositories, which replaces the HMC Standard and Beyond the PRO and RecordKeeping, which replaces regular updates from the former bodies.

Nevertheless some of the surveys published by the Historical Manuscripts Commission and Public Record Office still remain relevant as a point of reference for archivists and custodians of records. The most important pieces of work have been brought together in this section.
