Directors
The National Archives' Directors are responsible for our major operational and support services under the leadership of the Chief Executive. The Chief Executive and Directors meet weekly to deal with current issues in the Executive team.
Chief Executive of The National Archives - Natalie Ceeney

Natalie has overall responsibility for our future direction as well as current performance, accountable to our Ministers for both. She is also Keeper of Public Records and Historic Manuscripts Commissioner.
Natalie has been Chief Executive of The National Archives since 2005. Her previous career spans the public and private sector, including roles at McKinsey & Company, the NHS and the British Library. Natalie is responsible for leading The National Archives across all of its activities from its government role through to the delivery of public services. She is also the Government's Head of Profession in Information & Knowledge Management, and a visiting professor at the School of Library and Archive Science at UCL.
Director of Customer and Business Development - Oliver Morley

Oliver is responsible for development of customer, product and service strategy, partnership and business development, trading services, and marketing and communications.
His most recent role was at Reuters, with global responsibility for building and improving online information services for customers. Other responsibilities at Reuters have included delivery of strategy and marketing plans, regional sales responsibility, and implementation of sales systems and processes.
More widely, Oliver's experience combines strategy with a deep knowledge of how to deliver what customers need from an information business. He has also worked in shipping and consulting industries.
Director of Public Services - Jeff James

Jeff is responsible for the delivery and development of The National Archives on site, online and through remote services to the public and schools. He is also responsible for managing customer relations and maintaining service excellence at The National Archives.
Prior to joining The National Archives as Head of Advice and Records Knowledge in July 2007, Jeff had considerable operational and IT experience in both the private and university sector, more recently gained at the British Library.
Director of Technology and Chief Information Officer - David Thomas

As a senior archivist and records specialist at The National Archives, David has focused his career on developing access to archives and information in both Government and the archive sector. He is responsible for Information Technology services and digital preservation at The National Archives and is leading on the major cross-government project to develop a shared service for digital preservation. As Chief Information Officer David also ensures the successful operation of the Government's Knowledge Council.
Director of Information Policy and Services - Carol Tullo

Carol is responsible for the Office of Public Sector Information (OPSI), The National Advisory Services and information management and collection research at The National Archives. She is also Queen's Printer for Scotland, Controller of Her Majesty's Stationary Office (HMSO), Queen's Printer of Acts of Parliament and Government Printer for Northern Ireland.
Prior to joining the Cabinet Office in 1997 to head up HMSO, Carol practised law at the Bar in London and had a successful career in law and professional publishing. She is responsible for providing strong, coherent leadership in information management and policy both across government and the wider public sector. She is a Visiting Professor in Information Science at City University, London and an Executive Committee member of the International Government Printing and Publishing Association.
Director of HR and Organisational Development - Caroline Ottaway Searle

Caroline´s experience within Human Resources and Organisational Development has been gained in both the private and public sectors. She has contributed strategically at board level in roles as HR Director for a national charity, and Organisational Director of a large housing group. As well as her broad operational HR experience, Caroline has helped organisations to develop and change through leadership development, talent management and coaching, and staff engagement programmes.
Director of Corporate Services and Finance - Erika Stoddart

Erika is also the Departmental Security Officer for The National Archives. She joined The National Archives in 2006 having worked extensively in the private sector with senior management roles that include Head of Finance at Telewest. She is responsible for providing the financial information and business planning and project support necessary to meet the business needs of The National Archives. In addition she is responsible for the care of the estate and its assets.
